Dr. Singh Speaks on WELL Building Standard to bangkokbiznews

2 March 2021, Bangkok – Assoc. Prof. Dr. Singh Intrachooto, Chief Advisor to Research & Innovation for Sustainability Center (RISC), spoke on the center’s origins and the WELL Building Standard to bangkokbiznews at RISC.

RISC is the first organization in Southeast Asia to receive a “Gold” WELL Building Standard Certification for New and Existing Interiors.

Dr. Singh explained RISC’s founding goals and its work to achieve “For All Well-Being” and help overcome the current environmental and health issues caused by the misuse of resources and poor design, causing conditions such as sick building syndrome.

RISC has 7 key research areas in line with 12 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The WELL Building Standard’s 7 key concepts for healthy buildings – Air, Water, Light, Nourishment, Fitness, Comfort, Mind – also align with RISC’s 2 main research areas: 1. Health & Wellness and 2. Materials & Resources.

These values help enhance life quality through sustainable residential design and appropriate lifestyles, implemented together for sustainable future well-being.

The WELL Building Standard has been applied in MQDC projects such as The Forestias, a pilot project for the WELL Portfolio to help bring well-being to all.

RISC aims to set up “RISC Research Hubs” under 5 principles 1. Plants & biodiversity 2. Air quality 3. Happiness science 4. Material & resources 5. Resilience science. The new hubs will help expand well-being knowledge and enhance the WELL Standard in cooperation with “CREATIVE LAB” to boost opportunities and integrate knowledge across all areas.
