Famed for decades of achievement in eco-conscious design and architecture, Dr. Singh was
among the winners of the prestigious national recognition for 2019.
The Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC) each year selects 7 leading creative figures
who have already made notable contributions to Thailand's visual arts, literature, music, film,
performing arts, design, and architecture.
On receiving the award in May, Dr. Singh said he has aimed to reach "people's hearts" with
"I would like to convey that designers also have the ability to safeguard and restore the
environment with creativity, wit, and insight," he said. "And we can reach out to people's hearts
with our works."
The exhibition features Dr. Singh's work including his pioneering activities in 'upcycling' -
reusing materials in ways that give them greater value.
The Silpathorn Award exhibition runs until 31 August at Ratchadamnoen Contemporary Art
Center, 10am-7pm on Tuesday-Sunday (except public holidays).
Dr. Singh's vision in sustainable design can also be explored at the Research & Innovation for
Sustainability Center (RISC), MQDC's research hub in central Bangkok.
