The Aspen Tree is proud of our collaboration with many organization leaders, service providers, and academic institutions to promoting the health and well-being of older adults. We are grateful for their expertise and willingness to help us reach all these milestones.
The Research & Innovation for Sustainability Center (RISC), an organization associated with The Aspen Tree, also took part. RISC is a knowledge-sharing environment where researchers devise environmentally and socially sustainable solutions for healthier ecosystems. The center serves as a resource for society, dedicated to reducing the impact of our lifestyles on the environment. It also provides publicly accessible data and information that can improve methods and materials across the property development sector.
RISC aims to use the research findings from the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health to ensure a sustainable environment of health and well-being for The Forestias project, where The Aspen Tree is located. Center for Climate, Health and the Global Environment (C-CHANGE) (by Harvard School of Public Health) is engaging in site-based research at The Forestias to consider the effect of built environments on the health and well-being of residents. The Aspen Tree, as one of the key project components at The Forestias is participating in this research collaboration and believes the outcome will greatly benefit our residents.
Founded 100 years ago and located on 23 acres in Toronto, Canada, Baycrest is a global leader in geriatric residential living, healthcare, research, innovation, and education, with a special focus on brain health and aging.
On a daily basis, Baycrest provides care for over 1,500 older adults in a variety of care settings through interdisciplinary teams composed of 2,000 staff members. We believe that everyone, at every age, should be defined by who they are and how they wish to live - by their potential, not their limitations. Our vision is to create a world where every older adult enjoys a life of purpose, inspiration, and fulfillment. We do this by providing exceptional services, by introducing innovative models of care, and by advancing research and education.
Baycrest was recently recognized as one of the best specialized geriatric care organizations in the world by Newsweek Magazine’s World’s Best Hospitals 2019 Report. On a national level, Baycrest was accredited with an Exemplary standing, which is the highest level of performance, from Accreditation Canada.
Fully affiliated with the University of Toronto, Canada’s #1 research university, Baycrest is ranked in the top 5 hospitals in Canada for researcher intensity. Currently, we have over 300 ongoing research studies that focus on optimizing healthy aging and we are home to the largest research institue in the world housed in a senior care organization.
As a recognized expert in brain health and aging, Baycrest has become an advisor to governments, educational institutions, and the private sector on healthcare policy and innovative models of geriatric care. In 2018, the federal government of Canada appointed Baycrest’s President and CEO, Dr. William E. Reichman, as co-chair of the newly established Ministerial Advisory Boards on Dementia. Across the globe, we train 1,500 students annually from over 50 colleges and universities in contemporary geriatrics care.
We are thrilled to collaborate with MQDC in the creation of The Aspen Tree community. Together we will build a luxurious and innovative community for older adults that will focus on wellness, disease prevention, and a model of care using the best evidence in research and practice…Read More

At Perkins Eastman, we believe design is a process for people, by people. Working closely with clients and collaborators, we identify mutual goals, build trusting relationships, and discover solutions for any scale. Whether we’re envisioning a branded workplace, a new state of the art hospital or school, or a citywide masterplan, we engage in an integrated design process, always keeping people at the heart of what we do.
A global design firm dedicated to the human experience, we are a network of more than 1,000 thinkers, dreamers, and doers spread across 16 practice areas and 19 interdisciplinary studios worldwide. While our practice is global, our work is local, and we create dynamic spaces where people can live, learn, work, play, and heal. We get to know the places where we design and the cultural and architectural contexts that make them special. Our designers combine analysis with ingenuity, leveraging their skills and technology to create practical, holistic environments.
Staying mindful of environmental, technological, economic, and social shifts, we strive to leave a lasting positive impact on people’s lives and the world we inhabit. We design to enhance day-to-day experiences and once in a lifetime moments. If everything is design, everything we do is human by design.
The WELL Building Standard was launched in 2014 after 6 years of research and development as the premier standard for buildings, interior spaces, and communities seeking to implement, validate, and measure features that support and advance human health and wellness.
Under its 10 core concepts, WELL Building Standard applies rigorous measurement to aspects of indoor and outdoor spaces including air quality, thermal comfort, light, biophilia features, and healthy community. These holistic criteria can curate every detail to help people enjoy healthy, active, and fulfilling lifestyles.
MQDC and the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) signed a letter of intention (LOI) under which the Bangkok-based property developer will aim to achieve WELL Building Standard certification in future projects and focus exclusively on how buildings, and everything in them, can improve comfort, drive better choices, and generally enhance, not compromise, health and wellness.
