The Forestias Shares Forest Wisdom in Japan
9-14 October 2024, Japan – The Forestias was represented by its Forestry Rangers at “International Symposium: Miyawaki Forests and Urban Forests” at Yokohama National University.
The Forestias district by MQDC in Bangkok integrates homes with green space and a 12-acre forest grown using the famous methods of Prof. Akira Miyawaki.
The Japanese botanist discovered new ways to regrow forest after studying ancient trees at country shrines. His methods have now created woodland ecosystems around the world.
Experts came from 29 countries to present their work at the symposium.
Mr. Surin Warachun, an ecology expert and AVP of The Forestias, spoke on developing woodland activities at the 157-acre forest district.
The Forestias biodiversity team was represented by Mr. Thanakorn Yodthongdee, Ms. Parnchanok Nimthapthim, and Ms. Ratsuda Senadee.
They spoke on managing wildlife, teaching bioswale principles, and how wild bees help create new forest.
The Forestias uses Miyawaki techniques under MQDC’s concept of “For All Well-Being” to enhance life for all life.
