29 July 2021, Bangkok – Dr. Pattrarat Tannukit, an expert in infection prevention and control at Research & Innovation for Sustainability Center (RISC), helped present a Zoom training course for physiologists focused on care for older adults with 50 attendees.
The program raised awareness of innovations to enhance the physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being of older adults and helped develop professional knowledge to reduce health risks and manage resources effectively.
Dr. Tannukit gave examples and definitions of innovations and explained how they can be developed. Assistive tableware, for example, is designed for people with impaired movement and vision. The “Hand-Pull Prevention Device for Elderly” stimulates muscles and sensory activity.
She also spoke about RISC’s innovative “Red Zip-Lock Bags” to reduce the risk of infection from used masks. Upcycling, meanwhile, adds value to used packaging, such as converting non-woven materials for covering medical items into teddy bears, raincoats, and mats.
