The Forestias and Partners Hosted Book Launch for “Let’s Create a 9,000-Year Sustainable Forest Using the Miyawaki Method”
The Forestias, in collaboration with the Old Japan Students’ Association, the Cherntawan Foundation, and GISTDA, hosted the book launch for “Let’s Create a 9,000-Year Sustainable Forest Using the Miyawaki Method.”
The event was honored by Phra Ajahn Methee Vachirodom (V. Vajiramedhi), who delivered a lecture on reforestation and outlined plans to establish a Miyawaki forest planting school. Inspired by a walk through the Miyawaki forest at The Forestias, the project team subsequently applied their expertise and hands-on experience to help plant the first Miyawaki pilot plot at the Cherntawan International Meditation Center, serving as a learning center to share sustainable reforestation and ecological restoration practices.
Another key highlight was a panel discussion integrating forest creation, urban design, and space technology through the perspectives of three experts:
- Dr. Sirin Kaewla-iad highlighted the concepts and achievements of Prof. Dr. Akira Miyawaki in restoring ecosystems through afforestation.
- Prof. Dr. Ariya Aruninta connected nature restoration with urban development under the theme “Miyawaki Naturalism: Planting Forests, Planting Cities.”
- Mr. Thanakorn Sanguantrakul presented on the application of space and geospatial technology to monitor changes in Thailand’s first Miyawaki forest at Ban Bo Wi, Suan Phueng District, Ratchaburi Province.
