Foster + Partners Celebrates The Forestias “Smart City” Masterplan

19 May 2021, Bangkok – Foster + Partners, the leading global architecture firm, spotlighted its pioneering masterplan for The Forestias in a press release on the new forested neighborhood for health and happiness.
The studio underscores how Bangkok’s “new multigenerational, health-centered, sustainable quarter” will provide a template for healthier and happier urban living in Thailand through nature and innovation.
“The entire development is based on smart city principles, with autonomous vehicles, smart meters and sensor networks,” says the firm.
“Lush greenery surrounds the entire development with a range of different planted areas offering a variety of experiences and functions within the forest. As residents and visitors travel through the site, they are surrounded by denser green spaces offering a sense of escape into an urban oasis.”
Foster + Partners contributed to The Forestias through its local entity F&P (Thailand) Ltd.
Mr. Sunphol Sorakul, Partner and Director of F&P (Thailand), explains in the release how Thai traditional design also features in the masterplan.
“The Forestias masterplan takes inspiration from the layout of traditional Thai houses [in] flexible community spaces, focused on health and nature, that can expand and adapt as the needs of the family grow,” he said.
Built across 398 rai at Banga-Trad KM7, The Forestias is a world-first green district designed in every aspect for health and happiness.
A variety of residential concepts embrace all families and generations amid flourishing forest ecosystems. The host of lifestyle amenities includes shops, offices, hospitals, markets, entertainment venues, cultural spaces, forest walkways, and green transport.
